During our virtual meeting today, the Mentoring Mamas™ group discussed the topic: What do you fear the most success or failure?
I shared my experience with the group…
From an early age I always knew I wanted to start my own business. I would admire women who I saw that were in executive positions or ran their own company. But one thing that “scared” me the most was it seemed the more successful you become the more you would be scrutinized and judged… especially in the public.
For someone who is reserved and private this aspect of being successful didn’t appeal to me at all. Once I eventually started my own company I think internally I turned down opportunities because I was afraid of it becoming “too big”. I was afraid of being too successful and the fear that it would change me into a person I didn’t want to be. But now as a mom I view success from a different perspective. I don’t want my daughter to grow up and be afraid to try new things or step out of her comfort zone. You never know until you at least try, right?
One of my favorite quotes is “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
I think my fear of success has held me back from really pursuing my purpose and being the best me. This year my goal is to step outside of my comfort zone and see what happens. No limitations!
• Don’t let fear stop you from being your best!
• Step outside of your comfort zone!
• Turn your obstacles into opportunities!
• Change your mindset: Think Positive!
