Mommy and Me Natural Hair Care Workshop

Some of you may know that I have been planning a self-confidence event for moms and young girls for over a year. This is event is very close to my heart because I want young girls and women to know that there are uniquely special. Although we are using the topic of natural hair…the GOAL of the event is to have open conversations about embracing who you are and instilling the value of self-confidence in our young girls (children) and us (moms)

Since I began planning this event..I have reached out to several companies for partnerships and donations. I am humbled by how many companies AND individuals have graciously agreed to support this event.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU to SheaMoisture for their awesome support and donation!! ‪#‎abetterwaytobeautiful‬ I am beyond excited to partner with a ‪#‎brand‬ that provides quality products for moms and their families AND gives back to the community. ‪#‎mompreneur‬ ‪#‎mentoringmamas ‪#‎natural hair‬‪ #‎beYOU‬ ‪#‎selfconfidence‬ ‪#‎socialentrepreneur‬ ‪#‎visionary influencer‬‪#‎mommysgirl‬ #beYOU

***UPDATE August 18, 2015***
I received our printed 10-page 10×10 photo books about a week ago. I was pleasantly surprised how fast it arrived and how professionally it looked. The quality is GREAT! The process to create the book was for the most part user friendly and you can see what it looks like with a {flip-preview}.  I say “most part” because I am a professional graphic designer and I use programs like Indesign and Illustrator which allow me more creative freedom to manipulate art. I would recommend AdoramaPix as a platform to use to create a professional book for business or family.

Felicia completely epitomizes what an amazing mom truly is. She is a loving and devoted wife and a nurturing mother to our beautiful three-year-old daughter, Savannah.

Felicia’s journey as an amazing mom is an impressive and inspiring one. It began in 2011, while pregnant with Savannah, Felicia worked diligently and completed her master’s degree in business administration (MBA). Felicia continued her studies right up until the delivery date in 2012 and after a short three month break for recovery, returned and finished her additional concentration courses in marketing.

In 2013, Felicia made the ultimate selfless sacrifice and put her career on hold to became a full time mom while her husband deployed overseas with his military unit. Upon his return, Felicia rekindled her entrepreneurial spirit and developed Mentoring Mamas, a community based program designed to mentor women business owners (affectionately referred to as Mompreneurs), by helping them develop an effective and engaging brand. Felicia accomplished this by hosting workshops and seminars. Felicia also teaches online marketing classes for a local college.

Despite all these activities, Felicia still finds the time to be extremely active in Savannah’s life as she has never fully relinquished her role as a full time mom. She takes Savannah to school every day, helps her with her homework, and participates in Savannah’s fund raisers. Felicia also teaches the 2 – 4 year old Sunday school class, which Savannah attends. Felicia regularly read books to and with Savannah, and helps her with her alphabets, numbers, colors, shapes and states. On top of all of this, Felicia is the President and CEO of Mygani (formally Mygani Design Studio), a marketing firm she established and has been operating since 2004.

Felicia is the ideal role for anyone looking to have a positive impact on their community. Her selfless efforts both inside and outside the home are greatly appreciated by all those she has come in contact with. And did I mention that Felicia is also a phenomenal wife?! Therefore, I proudly nominate Felicia as an Amazing Mom candidate because I have been both amazed and inspired by this super-woman and super-mom that I am so lucky to call my wife!

Happy Mother’s Day to all my amazing moms!!

Sponsorships: What to ask for?

Since launching my company’s signature program, Mentoring Mamas™ … I have seeked out other businesses in my community that align with our mission and goals. I complied a list of tips to help you created your own “ask”.

1. Try to get a specific person so you can address/followup with them.

2. Be specific about your cause/event.

3. Give statistics about your demographic and how it’s aligned with sponsor’s.

4. Ask for specific donations/sponsorships, but be open to suggestions.

5. Be clear and state what the sponsor will get in return.

6. Try to establish an on-going relationship and not just a one time collaboration.
(It makes a buy-in more appealing from both sides).

Hope this helps! Please feel free to post any questions below.
